Raspberries are good for you

Raspberries are good for you to eat every day.  They provide potassium, essential to heart function, and has been proven to reduce blood pressure.  They also have omega-3 fatty acids that can help prevent stroke and heart disease.  Raspberries contain a mineral manganese which is a necessary need for healthy bones and skin and helps regulate blood sugar.  So yes, raspberries are another great little super fruit that can be grown easily in your garden or container.

Eating raspberries every day may also see a boost of your energy levels.  But that does not mean to have an entire punnet each day, maybe a few in cereal, or morning fruit, and even an afternoon lunch snack.

Growing raspberry plants at home the rewards can be endless.   Imagine the best raspberry jams, and nothing is better than a fresh bowl of raspberries and cream.  Or better, have a few off the plant for real freshness.  To help your raspberry bushes to thrive and be highly productive, make sure that you plant them in the sun, and prune them back in the right season and they’ll keep producing fruit year after year.

Raspberry plants are vigorous growers and should be planted in a roomy spot as they produce runners.  They can grow large, so make sure you give them room to spread.  Choose a spot in full sun, well drained soil, and great compost dug in to give them a good start.  If growing in containers, make sure the container is large enough to accommodate the growth of the plant and don’t put too many in the container.
