About a Man and a Tree. Populus Candicans (Family Salicacea). This deciduous tree of large size probably has its origins in France and Western Europe. First named by a German Botanist Konrad Monch, who was a professor of Botany at Marbury University from 1786-1805. His writings include Methodus Plantus Horti Botanici.
